Simon Small has for many years explored the world's great spiritual teachings. His experience has confirmed that the same experience of truth, wearing many masks, lies at the heart of each.

Above all else, he sees the Mystery of Existence and knows that it cannot be contained in any one way.

He is committed to the inner path that leads to the realisation of truth. He seeks to live in a quiet, contemplative manner in which such realisation may flower. His writings are rooted in this way of life.

After many years of spiritual seeking, for reasons he does not understand, he found himself irresistibly drawn to the figure of Jesus. This eventually led to his being ordained as a priest in the Church of England. For nearly ten years he worked as a parish priest and then as chaplain to a bishop. Throughout this period his exploration of other spiritual pathways, both conventional and unconventional, continued.

He now spends his time writing, giving talks, and leading occasional seminars and retreats. In the past he has acted as "Spiritual Companion" to many individuals. The people he meets within these roles come from a wide variety of spiritual pathways. He suspects, however, that the future will become increasingly focussed around writing.

Whilst acknowledging the profound wisdom of other spiritual pathways, he is aware of a vocation to specifically help those of the Christian tradition who are not nourished by what they experience in Church. He seeks to do this by sharing with them in a way appropriate to the twenty-first century the riches of the Christian contemplative tradition. His experience is that this can be a revelation to many and satisfy a deep need.

He hopes also that, just as he has been helped by other spiritual teachings, the Christian contemplative tradition may be of help to those whose way is different.

Now in his 52nd year, Simon becomes increasingly aware of his good fortune in having a wonderful wife and two deeply interesting sons. He lives in Glastonbury, England - otherwise known as Avalon.
